Kings handled by Golden Knights ahead of Olympic break
· Yahoo Sports
After conceding four consecutive scores to open the game, the Los Angeles Kings went on to fall 4-1 at the hands of the Vegas Golden Knights on Saturday evening at T-Mobile Arena. They head into the Olympic break on a three-game skid, currently three points out of a Wild Card spot in the Western Conference.ย
Vegas, which heads into the break atop the Pacific Division, set a major tone in the first period. After a quiet opening eight minutes from both sides, Jack Eichel, Mark Stone, Pavel Dorofeyev and Mitch Marner all scored for the Golden Knights within five and a half minutes of each other.

Anze Kopitar earned his 16th assist of the year on the play to reach 1,300 career points. He becomes just the 39th player in league history to achieve the milestone and only the eighth born outside of North America to do so.
Los Angeles proved otherwise ineffective against Golden Knights' netminder Adin Hill, who saved 32 shots en route to the 100th win of his career. It was the first victory for the nine-year veteran against the Kings in a Knights uniform.
On the other side of the ice, Anton Forsberg fell to 9-7-5 as his struggles in Las Vegas continue to linger. Across two road starts against the Golden Knights this season, he has allowed nine combined goals, representing two of his three highest goal totals surrendered to opponents this season.
The Kings were forced to hold their breath regarding the status of Andrei Kuzmenko, who took an inadvertent puck to the face late in the first period of Saturday's loss. He seemed to skate off the ice in a state of discomfort, but was eventually able to return to the contest midway through the second period.

Recent blockbuster trade acquisition Artemi Panarin was not in the lineup for Los Angeles and is not expected to make his debut with the squad until after the break. He will begin practicing with the team on Feb. 18, looking to ramp up and help the Kings in their second-half push to the postseason.
Five different players will represent Los Angeles at the 2026 Olympic Winter Games in Italy. Joel Armia (Finland), Adrian Kempe (Sweden), Kevin Fiala (Switzerland), Drew Doughty (Canada) and Darcy Kuemper (Canada) will all make the trip to represent their countries.
Kings' hockey will return on Wednesday, Feb. 25th, in yet another battle against the Golden Knights. This time around, the two sides will play at Crypto.com Arena, marking the final game of four in the season series.
Puck drop is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. PT.
