Philadelphia Phillies Trade Proposal Lands Player Labeled as Generational Talent

The Philadelphia Phillies have done what’s needed in the offseason, but it still feels like more needs to be done. That could be on the mound or in the lineup.

Christopher Kline of FanSided recently pitched a trade scenario with the New York Yankees to help with that. While the trade is a fun one and has long and short-term potential, it might not be the move the Phillies need to make right now to win a World Series in 2026, unless they have a lot of hope in Yankees youngster Jasson Dominguez.
Phillies Receive: Dominguez
Yankees Receive: Jean Cabrera, Zach McCambley
With limited opportunities to add a decent outfielder, this deal would allow the Phillies to grab someone who was once viewed as a potential generational superstar. Many thought he had the potential to be a modern-day Mickey Mantle.
“Absent the opportunity to add a ready-made star, the Philadelphia Phillies ought to roll the dice on a few high-upside gambles like Domínguez,” he wrote. “He's probably a fourth outfielder to begin the season, depending on Justin Crawford's spring, but Domínguez's bat should play well at CPB and the Phillies need more pop in the back half of the lineup.”
Early on, the role would likely be questionable. Philadelphia wouldn’t need to rush him into an everyday workload, but the quicker he can get there, the better it would be. The Phillies outfield looks better on paper heading into the campaign, but I truly have no idea what Adolis Garcia is going to look like. I think he can be good, but there are more questions than answers on that front.
However, the upside scenario is where the idea makes sense.
“There's a world in which Domínguez is the everyday left fielder by October,” Kline added.
For New York, the decision would ultimately be made on how to handle Dominguez’s long-term role. With outfield depth not in his favor, it’s not the craziest idea, though the package would be very underwhelming.
I don’t know if this type of deal would get it done, but I also don’t think the idea of Dominguez being traded is a crazy one.
