The run-rule win marked the Seminoles’ third shutout of the season and their fourth game ending early.
FSU broke the game open in the second inning, capitalizing on a string of Louisiana mistakes and timely hitting. With the bases loaded, Angelee Bueno scored on an error at second base to put the Seminoles on the board.
Jaysoni Beachum then drew a bases-loaded walk, bringing home Bella Ruggiero. Ashtyn Danley followed with a fielder’s choice that plated another run before Anna Hinde delivered an RBI single to make it 4-0.
The Seminoles added three more in the fifth. Danley scored on a wild pitch, Bueno lifted a sacrifice fly to bring in Shelby McKenzie, and Ruggiero ended the game with an RBI single.
Isa Torres led FSU with two of the team’s five hits. Hinde drove in two runs, while Danley and Ruggiero each scored twice.
Freshman pitcher Bella Dimitrijevic earned her first career win as a starter, throwing 3 2/3 scoreless innings with two strikeouts. She allowed three hits and one walk before handing the ball to Danley, who recorded the final four outs.
FSU returns home Friday to host Dartmouth and No. 9 Alabama in the Dugout Classic. First pitch against Dartmouth is scheduled for 3 p.m., with the matchup against Alabama to follow at approximately 5:30 p.m.
