Amidu ahanded 12-year jail term for possession of marijuana

Amidui, together with the former Dynamos star, Reuben Mhlanga, were arrested by the Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) in October 2025. They’ve been charged with possession of cannabis weighing 750km. Its value is roughly R1.2 million. Amudi learned his fate in court on Tuesday, 24 February, and it has been confirmed by ZRP national spokesperson Assistant Commissioner Paul Nyathi.

“Abbas Amidu” Matsika and Reuben Kudzai Mhlanga appeared for sentencing on February 24, 2026. Both will serve 12-year jail terms,” Nyathi said.

“The ZRP applauds members of the public for their continued cooperation and support in the fight against crime,” Nyathi stated, reiterating that “crime does not pay.”
