As per usual, it's slim pickings on the open market. Green Bay Packers quarterback Malik Willis is scheduled to be the top signal caller available.
ESPN recently wrote an article projecting one free-agent signing for every team. ESPN predicts the Jets will sign Willis. That would be interesting since we haven't seen the Jets routinely connected to Willis in recent weeks.
"Willis is going to sign somewhere to start, and the Jets need a new quarterback," ESPN wrote. "Justin Fields didn't work out, and Fernando Mendoza seems to be the only QB prospect worthy of the first-round pick in April. It's unlikely Mendoza will fall past Las Vegas at No. 1."
The Jets are equipped with roughly $87.7 million in cap space, according to Over The Cap. That is third-most in the NFL trailing just the Tennessee Titans and Las Vegas Raiders. The Titans and Raiders won't be signing a quarterback. The Jets can get aggressive for Willis if they'd like.
Spotrac predicts Willis' market value to be $35.5 million per season. That is a massive number for a quarterback who made one start and appeared in four games throughout 2025, but quarterback desperation is a real thing.
Willis is an exciting and ascending dual-threat playmaker. We'll see if the Jets seriously pursue him next week.
