Liverpool responded well to this FA Cup fixture, especially considering what happened on Tuesday.
Ngumoha was one of Liverpool’s best players on the day, backing up calls for him to get more minutes from the start.
He made the most of his opportunity, and now Arne Slot has even more reason to consider who should be starting on that left side. Warnock breaks it down.

Photo by Julian Finney/Getty ImagesDespite still being just 17, Ngumoha’s quality stood out — the pace, skill on the ball and confidence in possession.
While there’s still room for growth, according to Slot, he’s already matching or even outperforming Cody Gakpo on some nights.
Warnock thinks it’s time for a change.
He told BBC Sport after the game: “Rio Ngumoha had a brilliant display tonight. It was a big opportunity for him, and he has taken it with both hands. He has given his manager, Arne Slot, a big decision.”
The question now is whether to give the youngster more starts as we head into the final stretch of the season.
I can’t see any reason not to at least balance out the minutes between him and Gakpo. He didn’t look out of his depth playing most of this game.
You don’t want to overload him too soon, but as they say: If you’re good enough, you’re old enough.
Rio Ngumoha’s numbers show why Wolves found him so tough to handle
Ngumoha didn’t just fill a spot — he was probably the best player on the pitch in this FA Cup tie. In his 70 minutes, he turned in an eye-catching stat line.
- Passing accuracy 91%
- Touches in opp. box 9 (1st)
- Ground duels won 6 (1st)
- Successful dribbles 3 (1st)
- Fouls won 3 (1st)
- Chances created 1
It was an impressive showing from the teenager. If this doesn’t make Slot rethink his place in the side, nothing will.
