4 free agent CB options for Jaguars if Montaric Brown signs elsewhere

If the Jacksonville Jaguars are unable to re-sign Montaric Brown, what other free agent cornerbacks could be of interest to them?

ESPN's Jeremy Fowler reported on Sunday that the Jaguars would like to re-sign Brown -- as they should.

Brown took a big step forward last season, showcasing his abilities to start on a weekly basis and perform at a high level while doing so. He allowed a completion rate of just 54% on 68 targets and held opponents to just 10.4 yards per catch. He also came away with two interceptions and forced nine pass breakups.

However, there is going to be competition to do so. Coming out of the NFL combine, Fowler listed Brown as one of his "sleeper free agents." A relatively strong market seems to be developing for him.

If without Brown, the starting outside cornerback role opposite of Travis Hunter will be available. Here are four potential free agent options for the Jaguars to consider.

Kader Kohou, Dolphins

Kohou missed the 2025 season with an ACL injury. In 2024, the last season Kohou played, he allowed a completion rate of 65% but only 8.0 yards per catch with two interceptions and three pass breakups, according to PFF. He has experience playing both inside and out. Some of Kohou's time in Miami overlapped with Anthony Campanile, when he was the linebackers coach there.

Greg Newsome, Jaguars

It was an up-and-down season for Newsome after being traded to the Jaguars. However, if Brown signs elsewhere, perhaps the Jaguars will try to bring him back Newsome, hoping that having a full offseason in the defense will lead to more stable play. On paper, he is a good fit for Campanile's zone-heavy defense and has had good ball production in his career.

Riq Woolen, Seahawks

If James Gladstone is able to clear a good amount of cap space and wants to take a big swing, then Woolen may be an option. Woolen was named a Pro Bowler as a rookie in 2022 and recently won a Super Bowl. Over his career, he has allowed a completion rate of just 57% and a modest 11.5 yards per catch. He's also had very good ball production, recording 12 interceptions and 38 pass breakups, according to PFF.

Eric Stokes, Raiders

Stokes had a bounce-back season in his first year with the Raiders in 2025. He allowed a completion rate of just 56% and only 9.3 yards per catch with four pass breakups. Stokes was in Green Bay with Campanile during the 2024 season.
