Vincent Kompany is a phenomenal coach.

After taking over the reins from Thomas Tuchel, he has transformed this squad from a Bundesliga title hopeful to arguably the best team in Europe at the moment. Bayern Munich looks unstoppable, and the players seem to have taken their game up a notch under his tutelage. One player who has become a first-team regular under the coach and has been embracing his duties as Bayern’s midfield general is Aleksandar Pavlović.

The player, who has been consistently solid, dictating tempo, making precise passes, and improving his defensive work rate, has become an important cog in the Bayern machine. In an interview with Torben Hoffmann (@Sky_Torben) of Sky Sport Germany (as captured by @iMiaSanMia), the midfielder had high praise for Vincent Kompany’s influence in his development: “Vincent Kompany has a huge influence. He simply knows how I play football and how I think, and he’s also taken me to another level defensively. That’s why he’s so important, and it’s a lot of fun to play under him.”

When your players all have only positive things to say about your coaching style, and the team is ready to go to war for you, you know you are a fantastic coach.

Pavlović has become far more versatile as a midfielder since he first made the jump to the first team, playing both the No. 6 and the No. 8 roles with ease. He has matured into a true midfield general, and his passion and intensity are a joy to watch. Under Kompany, many of these young stars seem to be embracing responsibility and demanding more from themselves: Michael Olise, Jamal Musiala, and Jonas Urbig are other standout examples.

The coach trusts them to make an impact, and they reciprocate with stellar performances. This kind of foundational trust and synergy is what dynasties are built on. And that is exactly what Bayern Munich might have in its hands for the next 3-5 seasons… a football dynasty.
