Commanders reunite with former third-round pick
· Yahoo Sports
The Washington Commanders have finally added a wide receiver in free agency — and he's a familiar face. The Commanders are signing Dyami Brown to a one-year contract worth up to $3 million, per Tom Pelissero of the NFL Network.
Brown, one of Washington's 2021 third-round picks, spent four seasons with the Commanders, appearing in 63 games with 10 starts. He caught 59 passes for 784 yards and four touchdowns. Brown's best season came in 2024, which happened to be the first year of Dan Quinn, Jayden Daniels and Kliff Kingsbury. He caught 30 passes for 308 yards and a touchdown, but really came on later that season.

Brown's best work came in the playoffs. In three playoff games, he caught 14 passes for 229 yards and a touchdown and his career appeared to be taking off. It also came in a free-agent year, and the Jacksonville Jaguars signed him to a one-year, $10 million deal last March.

Things never clicked in Jacksonville, as others passed Brown on the depth chart. In 14 games last season, he caught 20 passes for 227 yards and a touchdown.
Washington has attempted to make a big move at receiver this week. It was close with top receiver Alec Pierce, but he chose to remain in Indianapolis, while Romeo Doubs received more money from the Patriots. Brown was not signed to start and will not impact Washington's search for another starting receiver opposite Terry McLaurin. He gives the Commanders much-needed speed on the outside, and he has chemistry with quarterback Jayden Daniels. Head coach Dan Quinn was also a fan of Brown.
The Commanders now have the following receivers under contract: McLarin, Brown, Jaylin Lane, Treylon Burks, Luke McCaffrey, Jacoby Jones and Ja'Corey Brooks.
