Ruffy’s remarks around Oliveira’s reliance on jiu-jitsu and a supposed late scare against Holloway have drawn a sharp reaction from his wife, Vitoria Brum.

He also pointed to the closing seconds of the Holloway fight, claiming ‘Do Bronx’ was close to being knocked out during a late exchange.
That was enough to provoke a firm response from Brum, who wrote on Instagram: “So let’s schedule a boxing match, because if you want a fight, this is f—— MMA, there will be jiu-jitsu!
“Ruffy, don’t come trying to ride the wave of my husband, because he has more submissions than you have fights,” she concluded.
Mauricio Ruffy apologises and clarifies his comments
In an interview with Ag Fight, posted on YouTube last Monday, Ruffy weighed in on the controversy and claimed that his words were ‘misinterpreted’.
“For sure, people misinterpreted it, and I also misspoke. I have to be very careful with my words because any detail can stray from what you want to be,” he began by saying.
“It’s no secret how much of a fan I am of Charles, I don’t want to fight Charles at all. I really like Charles. I spoke about a specific issue.
“I watched the video, and Charles didn’t take clean blows, he took them to the shoulder, so I made a comment that came to mind. I said that Charles was super intelligent in the fight, but the fight was tied up, it was in Charles’ specialty, and there’s nothing wrong with that.
“The BMF, the belt he fought for, everyone expected it to be a bloody fight, a war. And what surprised me is Charles, who always went for the war, went there and played an intelligent game. A huge credit to him. At no point am I speaking ill of Charles.”
