Alleged murder suspects killed in shootout with KZN police

Two alleged suspects who were sought for at least four counts of murder within the Hillcrest policing precinct have been gunned down during a shootout with KwaZulu-Natal police.

The shootout with police happened at a residence on Mkhelekehleni Road at KwaNgcolosi in the early hours of Saturday morning, 21 March.
ALLEGED MURDER SUSPECTS KILLED IN SHOOTOUT WITH KZN POLICE
South African Police Service (SAPS) in KwaZulu-Natal Colonel Robert Netshiunda said the suspects were also sought for the recent double murder of an 84-year-old woman and a 13-year-old girl.
Netshiunda said the men in blue gathered intelligence about the whereabouts of the suspects and when they arrived at the rondavel house in Hillcrest in which the suspects were sleeping, a shootout ensued between police and the suspects.
“Two suspects were shot and fatally wounded during the shootout. Cases of attempted murder of police officers were opened for investigation. No police officer was injured during the shootout,” he said.
ANOTHER SHOOTOUT AT THE NOTORIOUS INANDA
Similarly, last week Monday, two alleged murder suspects were shot and fatally wounded in yet another shootout with KZN SAPS at Mzomusha area, Newtown C Section in Inanda.
The alleged suspects were sought in connection with several cases of murder and attempted murder
Netshiunda said police were searching for at least five suspects, and during an operation which started just after midnight on Monday morning, two of the suspects were located at the Mzomusha area with the assistance of a drone.
“When police approached the house in which the suspects were hiding, a shootout ensued, which resulted in the two suspects, aged 20 and 25 years old, sustaining fatal gunshot wounds. Two firearms were found in the possession of the suspects. A search for the remaining suspects is ongoing,” he explained.
