Major TTC and GO train closures expected this weekend
· Toronto Sun

Here’s the deal for transit riders this weekend: Expect some major slowdowns, and plan ahead.
That’s because big chunks of the TTC’s Line 2 and GO Transit’s Kitchener line will be out of service for scheduled work.

Starting Saturday, the TTC said in an advisory that subway service on Line 2 between Kipling and Jane stations will be shut down for track work. Shuttle buses will run instead
The transit agency also said riders who use Royal York Station should note that the Grenview Blvd. entrance will be closed during this time.
The good news: All stations in the area will stay open so travellers can load PRESTO cards or transfer to bus routes.
The TTC said regular subway service between Kipling and Jane is expected to be back by Sunday at 8 a.m.
Another closure coming right after
On Sunday, a different stretch of Line 2 — between Jane and Ossington — will be closed for signal work. Shuttle buses will again replace trains.
During this shutdown, the TTC said Runnymede, High Park, Lansdowne, and Dufferin stations will be completely closed, while the rest will remain open for PRESTO services and bus connections.
Everything should be back to normal by 6 a.m. Monday, just in time for the weekday rush, says the TTC.
GO Transit riders aren’t getting off easy either
GO Transit says there will be no train service on the Kitchener line between Bramalea GO and Union Station from Saturday through the end of service Sunday due to critical track work.
Replacement buses will run from Bramalea GO to Highway 407 Bus Terminal, where riders can connect to TTC Line 1 to reach Union Station, the transit agency said.
During this closure, GO train service will not stop at Bloor, Mount Dennis, Weston, or Etobicoke North stations. Regular GO buses will still serve Malton GO.
On the bright side…
The TTC is boosting service elsewhere to handle big crowds.
City News reports extra subway trains will run on Line 1 Yonge-University for the Blue Jays home opener on Friday at Rogers Centre, along with added service on the 510 Spadina streetcar route.
And for soccer fans heading to BMO Field on Saturday for Canada’s international friendlies, the TTC said there will be extra service on the 509 Harbourfront route, plus more TTC staff at Queens Quay and Exhibition loops to help manage crowds.
