While it was Alpena again flexing its muscle at the season’s end for the BNC championship, right there with the Wildcats in a historic campaign was Petoskey.

A record 22-win season accompanied the Northmen thanks to a roster packed full of talented scorers, defensemen and goalies, while leading to a runner-up finish within the BNC.

Much of that group was recently highlighted on the 2025-26 All-Big North Conference hockey teams, led by a pair from Petoskey on the first team.

The Northmen had six players recognized overall, including two more on the second team.

Petoskey senior Madden Pateman earned first team from the league’s coaches after setting records for points and goals in a single game this season.

Pateman also eclipsed the 100-point mark during his career and finished the season with a team-high 31 goals, to go with 24 assists.

Anderson Ward, a junior from Boyne City, also joined Pateman on the first team. Ward eclipsed the 100-points mark as well this season, with a year to add to it.

He closed his campaign with 13 goals as a defensemen, along with a team-high 35 assists.

On the second team for the Northmen were seniors Chase LaFaive and Evan Williams.

LaFaive of Harbor Springs ended his final season with excellent balance and 27 goals and 26 assists, while Williams, a Petoskey St. Michael senior and defenseman, had 18 goals and 18 assists.

Within the honorable mention group of the conference, Petoskey’s Eli Brinkman and Nick Timm were also recognized.

Brinkman, a senior forward, totaled 15 goals and 15 assists this season, then Timm, another senior and 21-game starter in goal for the Northmen, was credited with 14 wins, three shutouts and a .905 save percentage. He totaled 572 saves for the season.
