The New York Knicks have had an up-and-down season thus far.

They fell as far as fifth place in the Eastern Conference standings after a rough stretch of nine losses in 11 games.

However, following that run of poor play, the team responded instantly with an eight-game winning streak.

As a result, they've moved back to third place in the conference, trailing the Boston Celtics by only half a game.

Not only that, but New York also improved their roster via the buyout market, adding former top-10 pick Jeremy Sochan from the San Antonio Spurs after being waived.

They also added T.J. Warren to their G-League affiliate, the Westchester Knicks. Warren averaged a whopping 19.8 points per game during the 2019-20 season.

Recently, New York's captain, Jalen Brunson opened up about his role in the organization and the opportunity he has to offer his opinion to the front office. Although Brunson is willing to provide input, he doesn't want too much control.

 “The front office has the vision and it’s on us as players to go out and do our job. Yes, I’m asked about stuff, but I remove myself from that,” he said. “I’ll say something, but I’m not going to be incriminating or [say], ‘This is what you should do.’ I’ll give my pros and cons.”

This is a mature approach by Brunson, as he allows a time and place to contribute his thoughts, while also trusting those in the front office to make the decisions.

For these reasons, Brunson and the Knicks organization continue to operate on the same page.

Following the All-Star break, New York will return to action Feb. 19 against the conference-leading Detroit Pistons.
