In the last matchup between the two sides, the Sycamores played tough, but the Flames were too hot to handle as they pulled away for a 70-57 victory. The game was tied at 14 after the first quarter before the Flames outscored the Sycamores in each of the following three quarters.
The Sycamores also are coming off a rough and ultimately chippy game at Drake on Saturday where the Bulldogs pulled away for an 88-70 victory in Des Moines, Iowa.
It was a game that saw ISU player Da'Naria Washington ejected after two flagrant fouls and teammate Samiyah Briggs assessed with a technical foul. Also, ISU coach Marc Mitchell didn't allow his team to shake the opposition's hands after the final horn.
The Sycamores are hoping to use home court to get right as they are on a four-game skid while the Flames themselves have lost back-to-back games. UIC most recently fell 78-77 at conference-leading Murray State on Sunday.
The Sycamores (8-17 overall, 4-11 MVC) are led in scoring by Tierney Kelsey, who averages 14.2 points per game. Jayci Allen is the other Sycamore in double figures at 10.2 ppg. Clemisha Prackett leads ISU in rebounds with an average of 7.2 per outing, with Amerie Flowers is right behind her with 6.2. Prackett's 7.2 rpg is good enough for sixth in the MVC. Kennedy Claybrooks sits third in the MVC in assists as she dishes out an average of 4.8 per contest.
UIC (11-14, 6-8) is led by Jessica Carrothers at 17.9 ppg and Julia Coleman at 14.7 ppg. The Flames are led on the glass by Coleman, who hauls down 7.1 rpg. Carrothers sits sixth in the MVC in assists with an average of 3.8 a game.
In addition to their recent four-game skid, the Sycamores will be looking to snap their six-game skid to the Flames. Overall, ISU owns a 13-9 lead in the series.
